Winibaldus Stefanus Mere is a Professor at the Law School and Director of the Institute for Social Ethics at Nanzan University, Nagoya, Japan. He holds a BA in Philosophy and Theology from STFK Ledalero, Maumere, Indonesia; an MA in International Law from SOAS Law School, University of London, UK; an LLM in International Law with International Relations from Kent Law School, University of Kent, Canterbury, UK; and a PhD in Law from SOAS Law School, University of London, UK. His research focuses on business and human rights, particularly the legal, social, and religious (theological and spiritual) responsibilities of business concerning human rights. In recent years, his research interests have expanded to cover human rights issues from an interdisciplinary perspective, with a specific focus on contemporary challenges related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and minority issues.
